Mine Capping and Remediation

Because of our significant experience in mining, structural and civil engineering, Datson Consulting have an in-depth appreciation of dealing with Cornwall’s extensive mining legacy. It has been estimated that there are over 15,000 mine shafts in Cornwall alone, many over 200 years old and significant numbers of them are not shown on any Ordnance Survey maps or abandoned mine plans. Datson Consulting can provide a service to advise and implement mine shaft caps and other forms or mine feature remediation.

How Can We Help?

Datson Consulting can carry out a review of any historic paperwork or past site investigation work together with an on site visit to be able to determine the most appropriate way forward to deal with the mining issue.  Following on from this, costings and Project Management of the mine remediation project can then be undertaken.

With our extensive knowledge and expertise we will work with you to deliver a cost effective solution for your mine related remediation problem.  In conclusion of the project we can provide a detailed report on the original issue, summary of past information and investigations and then describe the remediation project.  In most cases we can finalise with the statement that the property is “both mortgageable and suitable for buildings insurance” on behalf of the client.

With our extensive experience of working close to buildings we can also advise on temporary works to undertake mining remediation in the immediate vicinity of structures, complex access problems and provide innovative and alternative solutions to difficult individual cases.

We have experience in working on projects from just £5,000 up to £350,000 and can engage site investigation teams, designers and suitable experience contractors for the project.

Please contact Datson Consulting for an individual discussion and tailored anticipated fee estimate for this type of work.
